Luodian Kit Guide: What's Inside and How to Start

The shell

Our kits include real freshwater mother-of-pearl fragments. No plastic, no coating — just nacre that will shimmer for decades.

The tools

You receive a cutting board, small blades, sanding sticks, adhesive and sealant. The Luodian process is: score the shell, snap or cut it, sand the edge, fit the piece, seal the surface.

Plan your first project

  1. Practice on scrap — cut a few random fragments to feel the shell's grain.
  2. Dry-fit first — arrange pieces on the blank before gluing.
  3. Glue in small sections — let each section cure.
  4. Seal last — one thin coat protects the shine.

Troubleshooting

  • Shell cracks while cutting → score deeper, cut away from the crack
  • Adhesive smears → clean with the alcohol pad included in the kit
  • Shine looks dull → wait for full cure, then buff with the soft cloth
