Chanhua Wedding

Pieces made for the day, and kept after it.

A Chinese wedding is a series of small objects: the fan the bride carries, the flowers pinned to the couple's chests, the hairpin that holds the style together. This is where those pieces live.

Everything here is wound by hand in Guang'an, Sichuan — dyed velvet thread over shaped copper wire, one bloom at a time. Nothing is printed, and nothing is molded.

Made to order

Wedding pieces are made after you order, not pulled from a shelf. The larger pieces take about ten days of work before dispatch. If your date is close, message me first and I will tell you honestly whether it can be met.

If you need a color to match

Send a photograph of the dress or the fabric. I will tell you what will sit well next to it — or whether a custom color is the better answer.

Questions about Chanhua Wedding

How far ahead should I order a wedding piece?

The larger pieces take about ten days of making before they are dispatched, then the usual carrier time on top. For a wedding, order at least four to six weeks ahead so there is room for a delay. If your date is closer than that, message me before ordering.

Can you match the colour of my dress?

Usually yes. Send a photograph of the dress or the fabric in daylight and I will tell you which colourway sits best next to it, or whether a custom colour is the honest answer.

Are these finished pieces or kits?

The wedding pieces are finished — they arrive ready to carry or pin, with nothing to assemble. Some of the everyday designs also come as kits if you would rather make one yourself.

Do you ship outside China?

Yes, worldwide with tracking, from Guang'an in Sichuan. Orders over $139 ship free.

Can I order two pieces that match?

Yes, and it is the most common request for a wedding — a corsage and a boutonniere, or two fans. Message me before ordering so I can confirm the timing for a matched set.
