Twelve leaf shapes, four sizes each, so every leaf comes out the same.
Ronghua (velvet flowers) is a Chinese craft: degummed silk, shaped by hand over a wire frame. The part that makes a piece look amateur or professional is whether the leaves match — and a mold is the simplest way to make them match.
Each mold is 3D printed, about 3.5 cm across, and holds four sizes of one leaf shape. With all twelve in front of you, you can shape, layer and build a whole flower without ever stopping to redraw a template.

I'm Hong. I make Chinese silk flowers by hand in Guang'an, Sichuan — Chanhua and Ronghua, the two crafts my grandmother taught me over six years.
She is eighty-nine now and has made these flowers since she was a girl. I left the craft for an office job in Guangzhou, missed the quiet of making something with my hands, and came back. Now I do this full time, and every piece in this shop is wound by me.
